Audio visual products have always attracted Mr. Swadesh Khetawat’s (CMD) attention and the opportunity from PLUS Japan came at a time when he was hungry to start his own entrepreneurial journey. While the technology curve may have met the demand curve, from an economics point of view, Mr. Khetawat’s real success unraveled when he realized that it was the right time to be in that business. With just the right type of competition and clientele, Plus grew faster than expected with high quality offerings.

Mentorship and excellence–
After completing his Bachelor of Engineering and Post-Graduation in Computer Science, Mr. Khetawat started selling Computers in 1988. He fell in love with software and decided to quit his job for a new venture. Soon after, his focus shifted to Audio Visual. With the help of PLUS Japan, he started out PLUS Business Machines in India in 1995. With the support and existing brand equity built by PLUS Japan, Mr. Khetawat quickly grew his company in the Indian market and he benefitted greatly from his company's increased focus on quality and customer service. He attracted multiple Audio-Visual manufacturers to India and grew his business even further, while slowly expanding across the world. Associating with Aritaka Tashiro San of PLUS Japan in his early years helped Mr. Khetawat throughout his journey and the lessons he learnt from Aritaka San have helped him grow his business by leaps and bounds.

Business demands reflected that the audio-visual industry was set to grow for the next several years. According to Mr. Khetawat, companies can successfully compete in this space with the help of cloud computing, latest innovations in technology, and advanced team leadership. However, Mr. Khetawat’s advice for entrepreneurs entering this space is to work hard and offer a unique product that will differentiate them from the rest. Mr. Khetawat believes that being humble in your approach and putting long hours in your startup will make you succeed when you least expect it.
