Leading from the front, Sanjay Bahety, Managing Director, reveals his “hands-on and single-minded approach” has helped elevate IBE to greater heights. He has ably taken forward the entrepreneurial legacy founded in 1986 by his father Jiwan Lall Bahety. But it wasn't all handed to him on a silver platter. Started out as a junior level staff in a knit wear company, to entering the family-owned business manufacturing Hydraulic systems, he later on joined the company as a partner in 1994. He worked in the bulk MHE field and it was but natural that he picked up the nuances of the sector.

“In 1986-87 we had accepted a large order for a new development, without having much knowledge about it. To put it mildly, our very existence depended upon it! After three and a half months of sleepless nights, we met a 72 year old gentleman operating from a shanty place, who was about to close down his workshop because of his advancing age. With his help, we were able to make the required dices and moulds, this gave us a solid foothold in the market. Forward integration and consistency of efforts helped us to tide over the issues.”

“After success of required Dices, we brought pressed steel deep drawn bearing housing in place of cast steel housing and with the help of moulds, we produced Labyrinth Sealings. In fact, our foundation is based on this aspect. From manufacturers of conveyor components, we made the transition to a manufacturer of conveyor systems. We started value addition to products such as idlers, pulleys, frames and manufacturing of conveyor systems that have been successfully supplied to corporate clients and various sectors that include power, cement, steel, coal and others.”

“Since all the facilities are under one roof, it makes us the largest manufacturing facility of its type in Eastern India. Our concept of quality initiates right from the design stage as some of the products are purely customized. IBE has also bagged an international edge, as we conduct exports through firms at Ahmedabad and Vadodara. Our vision is to be a 200 crore company by 2020.”
