As a child, he grew up playing with model trucks and trailers. His father Lallan Kumar Todi - a veteran in the logistics segment – watched his son’s interest, nodding a hearty approval.

Earlier on, toy trucks may have enthralled Piyush Todi. Presently, though, the Director of Coastliners Pvt. Ltd. grabs his thrills from the spectacular success, recognition and abiding acceptance that his firm is steadily notching globally as an effective logistics solution provider.

“The transport industry was not new to me and as a child I’ve seen my father live the life of an avid transporter. My father’s passion rubbed off on me and the idea of becoming part of a booming industry that was vital to infrastructural growth appealed to me. In 2007, I teamed up with my father and decided to set up Coast Liners. Our aim was to be a logistics organisation with a modern outlook that would benefit from over 40 years of invaluable experience of my father.”

Flagging Off
“It was a real challenge since we were beginning with no team or branch network, a zero customer base and scarce funds. We began with the purchase of two company vehicles. Having proven ourselves as a secondary logistics provider, a client base was gradually developed and we could turn the situation around.”

“We have grown from serving a single customer to being the trusted logistics partner for over 250 key customers, across industries. Today, Coast Liners moves one consignment every 15 minutes. We have a network of over 80 branch and liaison officers across India, with a complete range of modernised fleet of trucks, trailers, axles, pullers, drop-deck, cranes, specialist accessories and extensive infrastructure for undertaking simple and complex logistics operations across India and beyond. In addition, we service the global requirements of clients with the support of our operational partners. Coast Liners is famed for its ability and agility in offering smart simple solutions and for an entrepreneurial culture that has led us to undertake projects and grow in areas where others see only risk.”

We have introduced systems and initiatives including GPRS-enabled track and trace, online video coverage for high-risk and high-value consignments, daily status reporting to clients and are also working with a technology company to allow near real-time detailed updates to our customers. By creating client-specific teams we have been able to have long-standing strategic partnerships with clients across industries. We have dedicated Key Account teams for each key account or customer that are responsible for all the operations from start to finish.”
